Catch me, catch me, catch me! It’s that time of year again, which means it’s time for Blanche’s Santa kink and my annual Golden Girls Holiday Gift Guide! Of course us fans have been celebrating all year long for the show’s 40th anniversary, and there’s more Golden Girls merch than ever to mark the occasion. That’s definitely not a bad thing but, rather than make you try to find your underwear in the big pile, I’ve decided to create a list of what I think are the top 10 best Golden Girls gifts for this year. Ok, 11 if you count the Hallmark Ornament above. But you get the idea. So fasten your seatbelts, get those charge cards ready, and let’s go shopping!
The Golden Girls: Tales from the Lanai
Of course I have to start off with The Golden Girls: Tales from the Lanai since I happen to have a chapter in it. It’s not every day that I get to engage in such blatant self-promotion, after all! But seriously, it really is a helluva book! It’s perfect for any Golden Girls fan, from the newbie to the seasoned viewer. There’s truly something for everyone here. Editors Taylor and Alfred also went above and beyond to include interviews with producers like Marsha Posner Williams and others who were directly involved with The Golden Girls. But you don’t have to take my word for it: check out this review from Library Journal (shoutout to me!):
The 80s vibes are strong with this quilted blanket from Cakeworthy’s gorgeous 40th anniversary collection. I just love the ruffled edge so much! Plus, it’s 100% cotton so you won’t feel like you’re smothering to death if a hot flash hits. Why, hello there, to my fellow gals in perimenopause! Y’all know what I mean. But really this blanket is perfect for all ages and genders to snuggle under while watching your favorite Golden Girls or LA-Law episodes for the hundredth time. It’s great as a display piece over the back of your couch, too.
These pajamas from Bioworld are so stinkin’ cute!! Green may be Blanche’s most awful color (she looked just like a swamp frog), but I like that this set switches things up from the usual pink. The piping details around the collar, sleeves, and pants add an extra pop of pizzazz.
Welcome to Appalappichobee Town Seal Holographic Sticker
Direct from the train inside Rose’s mind comes this spectacularly holographic sticker in the style of the town seal of Appalappichobee! It can’t play a song on those little horns, but it’ll look just swell stuck on any surface. Some pots belong on the back burner, and I just know you have a water bottle that needs this sticker! It’s available in my Forever Golden shop on lots of other products, too. And don’t forget: the 9:20 to Sarasota’s a circus train (hence the clowns)!
The Golden Girls: Love Is Golden Board Book
This follow-up to The Golden Girls: Good Night Girls is just as cute and features riffs on some well-known episodes and other moments from the show. It’s a perfect present to turn little tykes into lifelong readers and fans of the show to boot!
Death on the Lanai: A Golden Girls Cozy Mystery
What’s the difference between Oogle and Floogle and Hide and Seek? Adults play it, of course! And for older readers comes this second volume in the Golden Girls Cozy Mystery series! “When the Girls accept a very strange invitation to a lavish party on a remote island estate, they find that murder has a way of ruining even the most glamorous of evenings.The invite delivered to 6151 Richmond Street was short on details, only promising to celebrate “the greatest artist of the century” and accompanied by a jewel-encrusted brooch—the whole package a brand of mysterious opulence that another Saturday night of gin rummy just can’t match.” Ooh la la how intriguing! Publication day is in June of next year, but pre-order it now so you can be the first in your book club to get a copy!
Better Late Than Pregnant Coffee Mug
I love a clever coffee mug, and this spectacular specimen has been hanging out amongst the browser tabs on my phone all year long. The groovy lettering of the famous saying reminds me of all of the wacky sets on Laugh-In, and the 15 oz. size will hold all the coffee you can drink.
Here we have what the ABC shop is selling as a kitchen towel, but if you ask me it works as a hand towel in the bathroom, too. Adorned with a playful, all-over botanical design featuring the beloved ladies, this towel is the perfect blend of nostalgia and practicality!
Featuring a pink version of the leaves from Blanche’s bedroom this headband is perfect for workouts, casual outings, or holding your hair back while you’re applying a mud mask. You know you’re going to need a little something to motivate yourself to get back into the gym or start a home fitness routine in the new year, or my name isn’t Yvonne!
Back in the day we used to call these shot glasses, but who says they’re just for alcohol? In fact, what could be better than dessert shooters served in these! You can grab the whipped cream from your bedroom whenever you need a quick treat. These would also make great individual gifts filled with some nice hard candy as gifts for your friends! You could even put little air plants in them. The possibilities are endless!
